'The AiLECS Lab - bridging research and law enforcement'
The Ai for Law Enforcement and Community Safety Lab or AiLECS is a partnership between the Australian Federal Police and Monash University’s Faculty of Information Technology. Focussed not only on how technological advancements such as AI can support operational priorities for law enforcement, the Lab also focuses on what “ethics by design” means for the implementation of such technology in law enforcement. While our projects span many different applications such as firearm detection, our flagship area of work is in countering child exploitation. In this presentation, we will give an overview of the AiLECS Lab and our multidisciplinary projects that seek to support countering child exploitation endeavors.
