Presentation:
'The NCMEC Perspective: Child Sexual Exploitation Trends, Issues & Priorities in 2024 '
Serving as the national clearinghouse and largest child advocacy organization in the U.S., NCMEC will share data, insights and activities seen through their unique lens. Since 1998, the CyberTipline has received and tracked reports on child sexual exploitation, with last year’s total reports totaling over 36 million, with 92% of those resolving outside the United States.
CyberTipline data from 2023 will be presented, highlighting trends and the effect of current reporting worldwide – such as online enticement, the financial sextortion of minors, and industry reporting trends overall. Current technological threats to child safety will also be discussed, including the impacts of generative AI and end-to-end encryption. NCMEC will also share news about their global outreach and engagement, both through advocacy and training around the world.
In addition, research, programmatic and legislative updates impacting the CyberTipline, victim identification and survivor services will be shared.
